T O P I C R E V I E WRandallYes...and no. Firstly, it's not nearly as bad as the artificial sweeteners. Secondly, if you eat sweets alone, your body turns them into glucose, which enters the blood. Then your pancreas has to release insulin. This causes a rush of energy followed by a crash, which makes you lethargic, light-headed, and fuzzy-thinking. Do this too many times (the number of which varies per individual), and you will become insulin resistant (prediabetes). Between 25 to 35 percent of people are some level of insulin resistant! Diabetes is caused by several different factors, including genetics, but one could certainly presume a correlation between it and sugar consumption. But if you save the sugar for after a balanced meal, you can avoid the insulin spikes. So, tradition knows best. Save dessert for last, and then sugar isn't so bad after all. mirage29WHAT A RELIEF!!!!! Ami AnneThe artificial sugars( or anything such as margarine vs butter) is so much worse. If God made anything, even if it is processed, it is better than if man made it.------------------Passion, Lust, Desire. Check out my journal http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/RandallStevia is good. If it is beet sugar, assume it is a gmo."If you’re Monsanto, you’re probably really proud of your genetically modified (GMO) sugar beets. Introduced in 2008, the beets are the company’s most recent Roundup Ready product genetically engineered to withstand the direct application of the herbicide glyphosate. Immediately successful, they took over the sugar beet market within two years. By 2010, 95 percent of the sugar beets grown in the U.S. were Monsanto’s genetically modified variety." http://grist.org/industrial-agriculture/feds-to-farmers-grow-gmo-beets-or-face -a-sugar-shortage/ mirage29 ... thanks, shura! There's "something missing" in the taste of Stevia, to me. Disappointing. Like adding water to soup without boiling it.... disappointing.Aspartame triggers headaches for me.... shuraI'm not a fan of stevia either. Not necessarily a bad thing in its pure form, but that is becoming incresingly difficult to find. Processed stevia like Truvia (produced by Coca Cola and Cargill) is no better than the other sugar substitutes.Goes without saying aspartame is straight up poison
